Since they look like traditional wall switches, rocker
switches provide a familiar interface to a modern lighting control system and
can be mounted in standard switch boxes. Both digital and contact closure rocker
switches can be programmed to control any relay in any panel in the system.
The Momentary Rocker Switch interfaces with lighting control system through
digital contact input on the master control panel or through connection to photo
sensor input module EMPS3IN.
Installing the EMDS:
The EMDS is a 100% digital center-off momentary switch
that looks like an ordinary wall switch and provides a familiar interface to the
digital bus. This switch is NOT pre-programmed and must be addressed and
programmed in the field.
Placement and Wiring:
- MODEL: EMDS Digital Switch
1. Connect to the digital lighting control bus using Cat.
5 cable with RJ45 connectors. Note all items on the bus must be "daisy chained"
and the beginning and end items on the bus must have a terminator. If this is
being added to the bus in the middle this is not a problem. If added at the end
of the bus make sure the terminator is removed from the previously last item to
the new last item on the bus.
2. If the ON LINE LED is not flashing re-check connections
and crimps.
3. Address and define per instructions in EM1400
Quick-Hook Up Guide and System and Software Start-Up Manual. This would be
defined as a 2 button switch in the "PANEL SWITCH TYPES" Menu.
4. Program switch to control the appropriate loads. The
top of the rocker is Button 1 and the bottom is button 2. For more complete
details on programming switches see the O and M Manual.
